Your skin is the biggest organ in your body, but it’s often overlooked when it comes to regular checkups. In fact, a surprising number of people still incorrectly believe that a base tan will help protect them from developing skin cancer!

Whether your skin is in need of some advanced TLC, you have a chronic condition that you need help treating, or you’re just not sure whether you should be worried about that strange-looking mole or freckle, ZoomCare Dermatology is here to help. Get trusted care for chronic and severe acne, dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, and other skin conditions. No referral necessary.

How we make dermatology Beyond Better™

The average wait time to see a dermatologist in the US is over a month! If you’re worried about a skin abnormality or suffering from an acute burn or rash, that’s far too long to wait.

At ZoomCare, we’re breaking down barriers to dermatology with faster appointments, shorter wait times, on-site lab tests and medications, and more. That means earlier diagnoses and a quicker road to peace of mind.

About our dermatology specialists

Some of the most highly-rated specialists call ZoomCare their home. Led by board-certified MDs, our providers work as a team to deliver quality, compassionate, people-first care.

Keeping your skin healthy

The only thing better than seeing a specialist for skin damage is avoiding skin damage in the first place. If you spend a lot of time outside, here are a few things to keep in mind to keep your skin healthy and pain-free:

Cover up. The best way to protect your skin from the sun is to keep the sun off it. Wear long sleeves, long pants, and a hat whenever possible in the sun.

Stay in the shade. The sun is strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. If you can, time your outdoor activities to avoid being outside when the sun’s UV rays are at their fiercest.

Wear sunscreen. Make sure you’re applying sunscreen at least 15 minutes before you head out, since it takes time to soak in and do its job. Apply more than you might think, too — about half a teaspoon on your face and neck and another two tablespoons on your entire body.

SPF matters. Wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, but keep in mind that SPF only refers to a sunscreen’s ability to block UVA rays. For protection from UVB rays as well, look for a sunscreen that contains at least one of the following ingredients:

  • Zinc Oxide (try Eucerin Everyday Protection SPF 30, great for faces)
  • Titanium Dioxide
  • Mexoryl (brand name Anthelios by L'Oreal, available only at CVS stores, pricey but excellent protection)
  • Avobenzone (try Neutrogena Ultra Sheer for a non-greasy feel)

Keep an eye on your body. One of the earliest signs of melanoma or other concerning skin conditions is a mole or freckle that changes shape, size, or color. Get familiar with your spots and you’ll be more likely to notice if one of them changes.

When in doubt, see a professional. Skin cancers and other conditions are extremely treatable if they’re caught early. If you get a bad burn, a rash, or you just notice something on your skin that you don’t like the look of, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Schedule a ZoomCare Dermatology visit today!
